My name is Mariona Ríos Pérez, I was born in May of 1991 in Vilafranca del Penedès and for the time being I’m still living here. I grew up between drawing blocks, Crayola crayons and Alpino colored pencils. My major field of study in high-school was arts and in the fall of 2009 I started studying Fine Arts at the University of Barcelona. In an Erasmus program in Portugal, I learnt Portuguese and I realized that I had underrated aquarelle. After a scientific illustration workshop I understood that the illustration was my strong point. I completed my university studies and last year I traveled throughout South America which was crucial both personally and artistically. Currently I combine freelance works as an illustrator and designer with other occupations as well as writing erotic narratives.
The figurative and the representation of the woman are the predominant themes in my work. I like to talk about the world and the female body, always surrounded by a dreamlike atmosphere and surrealistic and demanding tics. The lively and contrasted colors are with the ones I feel most comfortable with and in general, I like to take care of the details. In photography -digital- I defend the black and white and the capacity that a camera has to tell stories as in graphic design I like its functionality, simplicity and esthetics, points that I try to highlight in my work.
